Into the Sea, kap. 8

Chapter 8

25th September, 3.30 pm

Dear diary,

I’m about 2 freak out!!!! I, Nessie, Claire, Becky, Seth and Jacob are on our way 2 the Cullens’ right now. Just a little while ago – like, less than half an hour ago – Becky turned into a mermaid! Dr. Cullen said only 1 could exist at once, and that’s me, but apparently he was wrong. We’re goin to tell Becky about me, Nessie, the guys – BTW, I have to get filled in on that one 2 – and probably Nessie’s family. She’s probably gonna freak, it’s a miracle I didn’t.

I looked out of the window of my parents car and saw that we were about to stop by the huge house. I quickly wrote one last sentence in my diary.

Gotta go, we’re there.

I’ll fill you in later.

I closed the diary right as Jacob stopped the car. I got out and let my diary lay on my seat as I closed the door.

I heard Nessie take a deep, calming breath as she got out of the car too.

“Wow…” Becky breathed, “It’s gigantic.”

“Yeah,” Nessie said nervously, “c’mon, let’s go inside.”

“What’s up with you guys?” Becky asked. “Why are you all acting so weird? And what is it that you wanted to explain but couldn’t do it on the beach?”

“Soon you’ll know…” I mumbled and bit my bottom lip. Normally she wouldn’t have heard that, but now she did and turned her head too look at me weirdly.

Suddenly the doors to Nessie’s house blasted open and in the doorway stood one of Nessie’s uncles – Emmett… I think.

“Why do you all stand out here?” He asked with a big grin on his face. “It isn’t cold, is it?” He asked and looked at Jacob and Seth while laughing at something that must be an internal joke or something.

“Shut up, Emmett.” Jacob glared at him.

Then I saw that Becky had gotten all tense and was staring at Emmett. When Emmett saw her he too froze for half a second before he got a big grin on his face.

“What’re you doing here?” He asked and then turned his head and said – into the house: “Hey, Alice, look who’s here.”

In a second Nessie’s Aunt Alice stood in the doorway bedside Emmett, and when she saw Becky she smiled confusedly. “I didn’t see you coming to visit.”

Becky’s eyes were big as… I don’t know as she stared at Alice and Emmett in shock for a couple of second before she exclaimed: “I thought I’d never get to see you guys again!” and rushed up on the porch and flung her arms around both Emmett and Alice at the same time.

Me, Nessie, Jacob and Seth just stood there staring at them. What the fuck? I thought. Does she know them? Well, obviously she did.

“Um…” I said, “I don’t want to interrupt your reunion, but, do you guys know each other?”

They all let go of each other and Becky looked at me. “Do you remember when I and my family went to Paris for a month about a year ago?”

I nodded. Of course, Becky hade even bought me a gorgeous necklace that I still wore every day.

“Okay, well, I met Alice and Emmett there.”

That was… unexpected… I thought.

Alice had put her fingers to her temples and closed her eyes, now she groaned; annoyed “I can’t see you.” She said to Becky, “Why can’t I see you? My visions worked perfectly fine when we last met.”

I heard movement inside and soon Jasper – Nessie’s other uncle – came out to stand in the doorway behind Alice, with his arms around her tiny waist. “What’s wrong?” He asked her worriedly.

“Jazz, I can’t see Becky… or Sam… in my visions, it all just gets blurry, like with the werewolves.” That must be the guys – the werewolves. I had figured they were something like that, but I quickly looked at Becky’s face to see her reaction to what Alice had said ‘cause she didn’t even know what she was yet.

But she looked perfectly fine… well, almost, but not as shocked as I would have thought. Her eyes only had winded a little and she was starring at Alice. Was that her reaction to werewolves? It didn’t look like much of a reaction at all.

“Well, come on, let’s go inside.” Jasper said and turned and walked in with Alice right behind, her hand in his.

“Does Sam know?” I heard Becky whisper to Emmett when they followed Jasper and Alice.

He nodded and grinned. “And I bet she heard your question too – super hearing, you know.” Then he laughed at Becky’s confused face, of course she didn’t know about me, but according to what she asked Emmett she knew about them.

Becky looked at me. “What does he mean?”

“We’ll explain soon.” I said and walked inside behind Nessie, with Jake and Seth behind me.

“Guys,” Alice said the rest of the Cullens, “this is Becky.”

“The chick we told you about after going to Paris and buying Rose’s birthday present last year.” Emmett said.

The following hour was awkward and confusing, since Becky apparently had seen Alice and Emmett throwing a football between each other one of the first nights when she couldn’t sleep and had gone out for a walk – Alice and Emmett had of course used their super speed and strength while playing. The three of them had become friends after that when they met the morning after so Alice and Emmett could explain everything to her, the reason they didn’t just leave was that Alice had seen in a vision that Becky would get the police after them if she didn’t get to know what was going on – she could be a little cruel when she wanted, but that was one of the things I loved about her.

After we all got to know about Becky’s, Emmett’s and Alice’s history we all helped each other to tell Becky what was going on – about the guys being werewolves and her and me being mermaids.

Why are there two of you?” Carlisle muttered to himself.

“What if the last mermaid gave us both powers?” Becky said and I instantly picked up what she was thinking.

“Yeah,” I said, “I mean, no one could smell that Becky was one, and she haven’t been addicted to water like me.” Then something else hit me. “What if she can do things I can’t?”

“Yes…” Carlisle said and I could see how his brain started working harder, “that could be right… maybe it wasn’t a coincidence that you two connected like you did.”

Then Carlisle left to go to his study to try to find out more, Esme went into the kitchen to cook us something, Rose went back to brushing her hair and Nessie’s parents went to some meadow somewhere. It was me, Becky, Nessie, Seth, Jake, Emmett, Alice and Jasper left.

“Let’s find out what I can do.” Becky said excitedly – well, she didn’t seem to think this was as awkward as I thought.

“Yeah,” Emmett said and put his arm around her, “I bet you can fly.”

If I was as strong as a vampire, or at least stronger than a human... mermaid, whatever, I’d slapped Emmett in the back of his head. Of course she couldn’t fly; she was a mermaid – not superman. Then, right over Emmett’s head, a bubble of water started forming out of thin air – and when it was as big as a football it fell and splashed onto him.

I started laughing even if I had no idea what had happened.

Did I do that?

It all had happened very fast, only three seconds or something. And Becky hadn’t even gotten a drop on herself, but she had jumped to the side in surprise.

“Om, my God!” She laughed, “What just happened?”

Everybody except from Emmett and Jasper were laughing so hard they probably would die because they didn’t get enough oxygen, Jasper were only smiling, amused. Emmett was shaking his whole body so fast I almost couldn’t see if to get dry – and after a minute or two, he was.

“I-I think that that could, maybe, possibly, have been my fault.” I said and tried to control my laugher and calm down. “I was thinking that I wanted to slap you because of your stupidity – thinking Beck could fly – and then a bubble of water formed out of the air and fell on your head.”

I was happy Emmett didn’t seem the be too upset, but he still made me promise him that we would have a race somewhere in the near future to see who was the fastest of us.

Into the Sea, kap. 7

8 av Into the Sea.
Om ni inte kommer ihåg vad som hände i förra kapitlet så har jag kopierat slutet av det:

Seth was fast and he was walking by my side after only half a second. “What are you goin’ to do?” he asked curiously.

“My best friend home in Detroit is flyin’ here.” I walked through the front doors and saw the whole group – well the ones who still went to school plus Jake – standing in the parking lot, probably waiting for Seth.

“Maybe you could take… him or her… down to Firs Beach a little earlier so we can get to know… him or her?” Seth asked.

“FYI, her name’s Becky, and I don’t think we’ll do that.” I was on my skateboard, rolling out of the parking lot, before Seth had time to say anything else but I could hear Nessie say: “She at least talked to you.”

I went straight to Little, Little Bay – that’s what Becky and I named it – after school. I only stopped by my room to leave my gym clothes and take my bikini instead.

Okej, då kommer kap. 7:

Chapter 7

25th September, 12.15

Dear diary,

Right now I’m sitting on a bench outside the airport. Like I told ya before Becky’s coming 2 visit me 4 the week! Yay! We’re goin 2 have a blast! Her plan should arrive in about 5 minutes, but I’ve been here for half an hour already. I was bored so I figured it might B funnier 2 B bored here than at home, and I was right – here there are a café :) and I didn’t drink water, haha, instead I took a cup of hot chocolate and a chocolate muffin. It tasted like heaven :P

I wonder if Becky has changed a lot, but I guess not, it has only been a week. I can’t stop wondering if I should tell Becky bout me, or if I should just let her think everything is normal. But that wouldn’t be fair 2 her, she’s my best friend and she deserves 2 know! I think I’m goin 2 tell her, but IDK how – I can’t just walk up to her and say: ‘hi, Beck, ya wanna know somethin? I’m a mermaid! Yep, it’s true, ‘kay, wanna go get some ice cream?’ yes, I’m goin 2 do that! *note the sarcasm*. But seriously, she’s goin to be here in a couple of minutes and I have no idea of how to tell her, maybe I could, like, show

“Sam!” I looked up from my diary, towards the front doors of the airport. There stood a 16 year old girl with straight, brown hair, almost white skin and glasses. She held one big suitcase in either hand plus one shoulder bag that was hanging over her right shoulder. On her mouth she had the biggest smile ever, no; wait, when I saw her I think I got the biggest smile ever.

“Beck!” I screamed. I took my diary in one of my hands and ran towards her. I was careful not to run too fast but it only took a couple of seconds before I slammed into her.

“Ow!” She exclaimed but hugged me back as I put my arms around her.

“It’s so good to see ya.” I said happily when she pulled back.

Becky smiled at me. “You too, everything alright around here?” She asked. She took a hold of her suitcases again – which she had had to let go of to hug me – but I took one of them from her and we started walking towards the nearest bus stop.

“Yeah… hey, we’ve been invited down to a beach called First Beach tonight.” When I said that I mentally slapped myself in the face and then banged my head into a wall, now Becky of course would want to go and I had told Seth we wouldn’t. Not that he wouldn’t get happy if we showed up, but I didn’t really feel like going.

“Yay!” Becky said. “A beach party, sounds like fun.”

“Um… it isn’t really a party, they’re having a bonfire and invited us to come before it so they could get to know you.” I said and made sure she heard the ‘before’ part. “They’re probably just planning on talkin’ and swimmin’ for an hour or so, we don’t have to go.”

“Let’s just bring your iPod and make it a party.” Becky said cheerfully as we reached the bus stop.

“Eh… I’m not even sure I want to go…” I said and put down Becky’s suitcase on the ground. “I, like, had a fight with the group who’re goin’ to be there and they want to make up but I’m not sure I wanna do that yet.”

“When was the fight?” Becky asked. She didn’t sound as cheerful anymore but when I answered her smile came back.

“Last Tuesday.”

“That’s long enough, you should take me there and at least see what happens.”

The bus came and we got on. We sat down at the end of the bus where there were five seats – Becky sat by the right window, beside her we put all her bags and I sat in the middle seat.

“’Kay, we can go.” I said.

“Yay!”

Since both of us are 16 and Becky had a driver’s license we got to take my parents car to First Beach. They weren’t that happy I was goin’ to La Push, but I had Becky with me so they figured it would be okay. Becky had made me bring my iPod and my iPod speakers so we could listen to music and even if – for her – it was very cold in the water she had decided to be in the water for at least ten seconds sometime while we were there. All the other time she was planning on tanning. She had also made me come with her to a grocery store to buy strawberries, apples, bananas, pineapples – canned – and soda in La Push.

When we arrived at First Beach there weren’t many people there. It looked like two groups of kids at about four people in each, but they weren’t at the cliff-side of the beach, where we put our stuff down. The speakers had batteries in them so I put them on an extra towel I had bought. Both I and Becky had put our bikinis on at home so we just took our clothes off. Becky had a cute dark brown bikini with orange, pink, green and purple flowers on and I had my normal one with black shorts, Becky had also taken her glasses of.

“So, should we swim or tan first?” Becky asked me.

I grinned. “Dive, c’mon.” I reached out for her so I could take her up to the cliff but she backed away from me and held her hands up.

“Have you gone totally insane?” She asked. “I’m not diving from that cliff.” She pointed up towards the edge of the cliff.

I saw something move in the forest to my right and quickly turned my head and gazed into the forest. I thought I saw two big wolves – one sand-colored and one gray with some black on its back. When they saw me looking they turned and was gone in a flash.

“What is it?” Becky asked.

I shook my head and turned back to her. “Nothin’, now I’m goin’ to make you come up on the cliff with me.”

Becky screamed and ran away from me, and – unfortunately for her – towards the cliffs. I laughed and ran after her – human speed, of course – I only ran a little too fast so I caught up with her. I threw myself at her and locked my arms around her waist so she couldn’t get free.

“No!” Becky screamed as she laughed. “I don’t wanna jump of off the cliff! I’m going to die!”

I dragged her towards the path that led up on the cliff with all my strength. “I’ve jumped from there, so you can too.” I laughed. We got to the path and I took a hold around both her wrists instead and started pulling her up to the top.

We both kept yelling and laughing as I dragged her upwards. When we almost had made it Becky got one of her hands free and quickly grabbed a small tree that was at the side of the path.

“No! Let… go!” I said as I tried to get her to let go of the tree. I closed my eyes as I pulled, and got her to let go. When I got Becky up at the top she was still trying to get her hands free so she could escape. I heard  – with my new, super hearing – a giggle form the beach and as I glanced down I saw Nessie, Jake, Seth, Claire, Quil, Collin, Brady, Embry, Jared, Paul, Sam and Emily, all down on the beach sitting on towels or standing in the sand as they watched us. Becky didn’t know they were there, and I didn’t stop pulling her towards the edge to tell her. I was stronger that Becky so it didn’t take long until I got her to the edge of the cliff.

Becky stopped struggling to instead look over the edge, down on the water. I still had a tight grip around her wrists. When Becky saw how high up we were she swallowed loudly and looked back at me. “I’m not jumping from here. It too high.”

“Please?” I made a puppy dog face. “We’ve already gotten all the way up here, we could jump together.”

“Nu-huh.” She shook her head.

“Ya know,” I said quietly so only she heard, “you’ll look kina’ lame if you walk down.” I nodded towards the others who were down on the beach.

Becky bit her bottom lip and looked from the others to the water and then to me, finally she nodded. “Okay, if you hold me.” She said carefully.

“Of course,” I took a hard grip around her waist and put myself right behind her, “you ready?”

“Mhm,” Becky nodded fearfully, “but I’m going to die and you’ll have to pay my funeral.”

I laughed. “You’re not goin’ to die, you’ll be fine.” And then I jumped.

Becky screamed all the way down to the water, and I just laughed at her. I heard Becky take a deep breath right before we hit the water and I felt that cold feeling in my eyes that meant they now were deep blue instead of green.

When we were in the water Becky suddenly tensed – and then she quickly fought her way back up to the surface and I followed her. Becky was up just half a second before me, but I heard her as soon as her head was above the water. “Ah!”

I got up to the surface.

Becky shut her eyes and bit her bottom lip. Hard. She nearly started bleeding. “It hurts! It hurts!” She said like something extremely painful was happening to her, which obviously was the case. “What’s happening?” Then she suddenly let go of her bottom lip, opened her eyes and relaxed. “What…?” She said and bought her hand to the side of her back.

I froze. She had a dark green tribal tattoo. With my ‘mermaid-eyes’ I could see it clearly even if it was under the water.

“Oh, no.” I murmured and looked up at her – and gasped. Her eyelashes were mush thicker than before, and her eyes were the same dark green as the tattoo.

Becky stared at me. “What’s wrong with your eyes?”

“Nothin’,” I said, “are you okay?” How could this be possible? Nessie’s granddad had said only one mermaid existed on earth at once.

Into the Sea, kap. 6

Edit: Förlåt, hade ju redan lagt upp kapitel fem :P Ändrade till kapitel sex

Chapter 6

I ended up sneaking through my window, get dressed and sneak out again just to go through the front door. Totally a waste of time, if you ask me.

“Where have you been, Samantha?” Mom asked, coming out from the kitchen, as I close the door.

“The beach…?” I said and furrowed my brows. “I told you I was goin’ there.” I didn’t wait for a reply I just went into my room and slammed the door behind me and laid down on my bed with my face in a pillow. Right now I felt many different things. I was angry, sad, irritated, confused. I was angry at Claire for freakin’ out ‘bout nothing, I was sad because I had screwed up and probably won’t have either Claire or Quil as friends anymore, I was irritated at Nessie for just standing there when Claire was shouting at her, and I was confused ‘bout Quil turning into a wolf. I mean, what the fuck? A wolf? Are they serious? I’m a mermaid, Nessie’s half vampire – and half human – Nessie’s family is vampires, and now Quil is turning into a wolf? My live has turned from a normal teenage girl’s life living in Detroit with normal friends to a totally screwed up life as a weird mermaid with friends who turn into wolves or drink blood! I wonder if I can make my parents move back to Detroit? No, I thought, they won’t do that even if I paid ‘em. Well, since my life already is ruined maybe I could just tell my parents I’m a mermaid, it’s not life I can stop ageing without them noticing. I sighed heavily and stood up from my bed. I took a couple of steps forward so I stood right in front of the door and was just about to open if when I heard a car pull up on out driveway. I mean, sure, I had heard it before it pulled up on our driveway, but I hadn’t thought ‘bout it. I walked over to my window and looked out just in time to see Seth, Nessie – who was holding my skateboard – and Jake get out of a red car I hadn’t seen before and walk up to the front door to knock.

It was my dad who opened the door and I could hear him say: “Who are you?” In a very rude voice, it was probably because of Jake and Seth’s skin color.

“We need to talk to Sam.” Nessie said and when dad glared at her she quickly added: “Mr. Piece.”

“Yes, you were here earlier today.” Dad said, looking a little nicer after she said ‘Mr. Piece.’ “Renesmee, right?”

“Aha.” Nessie confirmed and nodded.

“But who are these two, then?” Dad looked at Jake and Seth. I couldn’t see from here, but he probably didn’t look nice.

“This is Jacob Black and Seth Clearwater.” Nessie said.

Dad must have seemed doubtful or something ‘cause Nessie quickly started talking again. “Okay, uh, maybe Seth and Jake can stay in Jake’s car and only I go in to talk to Sam?” Well, she remembered mom and dad’s… opinions ‘bout skin colors and where you come from.

“Okay.” Dad nodded and stepped aside.

“I’ll be right back.” Nessie said. “Her room is the window to the left.” She then mumbled to Jake and Seth so dad couldn’t hear. Jake and Seth glanced towards my window as Nessie entered the house and dad closed the door. When they saw they both waved sheepishly. I glared at them and shut my curtains just as I heard a knock on my door and Nessie opened and peeked in.

“Hey, how are you?”

I turned to look at her. “Just go.” I said and went to sit on my bed.

Nessie sighed and walked into my room and closed the door behind her. Isn’t that the opposite of what I told her to? She leaned my skateboard to one of my walls and sat down on my bed beside me and looked at me. “How are you?” she asked again.

I turned my gaze away from her. “What do you think?” I asked sarcastically and looked back at her. “Today I found out that I’m a freakin’ mermaid, I found out that you are half vampire, half human, I found out that the rest of your family is full vampires and less than an hour ago Quil turned into a ginormous wolf right in from of me!” In the end I was almost shouting at her.

“Shh…!” Nessie put a hand over my mouth and looked towards my door. After listening for three seconds – by the way, both mom and dad sat in the living room watching TV – she let go of me. “You have to be careful!” She whisper-yelled. “They can’t know!”

I rolled my eyes. “I know that, I’m not stupid, but you would be pretty irritated if you were me right now.” I said angrily. “Now, you can go.”

“Please, Sam, let us fill you in on everything so you can forgive Claire and everything can go back to normal.” Nessie begged.

“No.” I said and crossed my arms over my chest. “I’m angry with Claire, I’m irritated at you and I’m very confused ‘bout the wolf thing,” and sad’ cause had screwed up, “I’m not goin’ to let you explain and then pretend everything is great again. I don’t give a shit if you understand why Claire got all upset and everything, ‘cause I don’t. She still did what she did; she yelled at you without reason and she called me a bitch! And even if I understood everything, nothin’ is normal!” I was almost shouting again, but I couldn’t help it. I was just so irritated and mad!

“Don’t you want me to just explain the wolf thing before I leave?” Nessie asked carefully.

“No! Don’t you get it? I want to be left alone – I don’t want to have anything to do with you people!"

I could have been wrong but it looked like Nessie’s eyes got watery as she got up and walked towards the door. She opened it and right before she left she turned and said: “Bye, if you change your mind, I’ll still want to be your friend.” Then she turned back and left.

I “hump”-ed and went back to lie in my bed with my face in a pillow.

The rest of the night felt like it was going on forever. After Nessie left dad came in and wanted to know why Jake and Seth had wanted to talk to me – of course he had no problem with Nessie being here. I just told him that there was no need to worry, they were never coming here again, and then I made him leave too. I spent some time writing about my disaster as life in my diary, but that didn’t take long so the most part of the night I just laid in my bed staring up at the ceiling. I didn’t come into the kitchen for dinner, I didn’t feel like or need to eat. I tried not to think ‘bout the fact that Quil turned into a wolf, but it was impossible. I mean, is he a werewolf or something? Are the rest of them werewolves too? And why in the whole fuckin’ hell did I get drawn into this shit?! It’s not like I asked my parents to move to Forks so I could become friends with a half vampire – whose family is full vampires – and a bunch of werewolves (I’m just assuming that the rest of the guys are werewolves too). If we would have stayed in Detroit I would have normal friends and probably nothing would have trigged the mermaid thing, or I would have become a mermaid anyway but I wouldn’t need to put up with all other supernatural stuff. I really needed to talk to someone – someone who wasn’t involved in all of this. I wonder I can call Becky? Or will she just be more upset and mad than she was before I left? You see, Becky is my best friend home in Detroit, but when she found out I was moving here she got really upset and wanted me to tell my parents I could live at her house so I wouldn’t need to leave, but I told her I couldn’t do that – and it’s not like they would have approved either. She got very mad at me for not even trying so we weren’t really the best friends when I left.

I decided to try to text her, if she didn’t answer or if she texted back and still was mad, I would just deal with it and leave her alone.

Hey, Beck :) r u still mad?

I got a text back only half a minute later.

OMG, Sam! I thought you had died or somethin! I’m so sry, plz forgive me :( ??

I chuckled as I wrote back. Of course I forgive ya :) but can we talk on msn or somethin? Mom’s gonna kill me if the phone bill gets too high -.-

Sure, I’ll log in now. Was the answer I got so I went to pick up my laptop from a box and sat down on my bed with it. It was pretty new so it didn’t take long to start it and log in, when I was logged in Becky was already online.

I immediately got a message from ‘Fancy Bookworm’ saying: Sup? It was Becky. She had always loved reading, especially love stories. I, on the other hand, had always thought they sounded so cheesy – blah. Her avatar was a picture of her and me with our heads tight together with gigantic sunglasses on. I smiled as I saw it, and then I got an idea.

I just got the best idea eva!!!! I ignored her question.

Let’s hear it :P

‘kay, what if… *drumroll*… you came here and visited me! I wrote. It would be so much fun if she came! And it would keep my mind of Nessie and the others. Thinking of them got me thinking of the fact that I’m a mermaid, and that got me thinking ‘bout water. I really needed to drink some water right now. I quickly got up and as quiet – and fast, which is fast – as possible I got out to the kitchen, filled a glass of water and went back into my room again.

When I sat down Becky had answered.

I’d love to :D as soon as possible, next holiday is Columbus Day in October :(

Yeah, I Detroit. Here they don’t care ‘bout that since I go to school in a Native American rez -.- so my next holiday is Veterans’ Day…

‘kay, but maybe I can come visit for a couple of days and we can fix so I can go to your school while I’m visiting?

After 30 we had both talked to our parents and decided that she would come this Saturday, be here for a week and leave Saturday morning next week, if the school wouldn’t allow her to go there for a week she would just have to try to spend her time doing something else while I’m in school. Since my parents like Becky almost more than the like me, they of course approved.

I didn’t sleep well that night either. I dreamed ‘bout vampires and werewolves and woke up all the time. When it was five in the morning I gave up and went to take a shower instead. Since the house had two bathrooms I had my own one. It was really nice not needing to share with my parents.

When I got into the shower and turned the water on I felt my eyes get cold again. They had turned blue; I wonder what I looked like with blue eyes? I opened the bathtub curtains so I could see myself in my bathroom mirror over the sink. I actually looked very good in blue eyes, and my eyelashes had gotten much thicker and longer. I smiled at myself and closed the curtains again.

The rest of the week I didn’t really paid much attention to anything. It wasn’t as if I was depressed or anything, but I was still mad at Claire and Quil was mad at me, and I know I was being childish but I ignored the rest of them too. Seth, Nessie and even Brady and Collin had tried to talk to me a couple of times but I had just told them to leave me alone and then gone in the other direction. I had talked to Becky every day and we both couldn’t wait until I was going to pick her up at the airport this Saturday.

The other day something fun had actually happened. Of course I couldn’t keep myself from going swimming but I didn’t wanted to risk meeting any of the guys – yes, I count Nessie and Claire in that category – down at La Push so I had gone down to First Beach and when I got in the water I had been swimming around far away from the beach, but still in the Forks/ La Push area. I had found this little, little, half-moon shaped bay. It was very nice there with a beach surrounded by hardwood but with an opening so you could walk there too, all the trees made a green, high roof over you, but the sun could easily shine through. There was one bigger tree right by the water that was bent over the water so the twigs were hanging right over the surface, making green walls. After I found that place I went there every day instead of going to First Beach in La Push. It was easy getting there by foot. Actually, I just needed to walk through the forest at my backyard. It took about 10 minutes to go there, but I was much faster, and there was no obvious path that led to the bay – which was good, ‘cause that meant other people wouldn’t go there.

That Friday I was fast getting to my locker – but not fast enough. Seth was waiting for me – leaning against my locker. I stopped and almost turned and get out through a window or something but in the last second I decided that that would be way too childish, even for me. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply before opening them again and started walking towards my locker – and unfortunately towards Seth too – but I was not going to let anyone ruin my good mood, I couldn’t wait for Becky to come here tomorrow! When I got closer Seth moved to the side so I could open my locker.

“Sam, c’mon, you can’t still be mad, I’m not even sure why you don’t want to talk to me.” Seth said as I opened my locker.

I glanced up at him and saw him looking down at me with sad eyes. I looked back into my locker. “It’s really Claire I’m mad at, not you.” I said as I looked for my chemistry book.

“Then why aren’t you talking to me?” Seth asked.

I didn’t look up at him this time. “I’m talkin’ to ya now, aren’t i?” I found my chemistry book and put it in my bag together with my gym clothes.

“Yes… but anyway,” I hang my bag over my shoulder, took my skateboard and slammed my locker shut. I leaned my board towards my locker and crossed my arms over my chest as I looked at him, “tomorrow night we’re having a bonfire down at First Beach and we want you to come.”

“Why?” I raised an eyebrow.

“Well, two reasons. One, you’re our friend and we don’t want you to be angry anymore – not even Quil – and two, it will explain the wolf thing.”

“Sorry.” I said and picked my board up. “I have plans.” I started walking past Seth, towards the exit.

Into the Sea, kap. 5

Chapter 5

My mouth popped open. Vampires? Is she serious? She has to be kidding me! No she looked very serious, she was telling the truth, I could see it in her eyes. I struggled to speak, I really tried, but my throat was to dry.

“Please, Sam.” Nessie begged. “Say something, believe me.”

I swallowed and cleared my throat and finally I was able to talk. “Nessie, I believe you, it’s just a shock.” I said.

“Are we cool, then? You’re not freaked?” Nessie asked me.

“I’m not freaked, we’re cool.” Then something hit me. “Do you drink blood?” I asked.

“Well, yes, but not human blood, we only drink from animals – that’s why my family has golden eyes, it’s the animal blood. Vamps who drink human blood have red eyes.”

I sighed relieved. “Okay, then we’re cool.”

“Good, ‘cause grandpa think he maybe know what has happened to you.”

“What?” I asked, pretty excited.

“He thinks you’re a mermaid.”

I raised my eyebrows. “A mermaid? He does know I didn’t get a tail or anything, right?”

“Yes.” Nessie rolled her eyes. “Not a fictional mermaid, a real one. My family isn’t like Dracula either. Grandpa have read ‘bout them, but never met one. Apparently it can only exist one in the whole world at ones, and when they first change – like you did yesterday – they stop aging. And when they want to start aging again they give their mermaid-self to a newborn baby, then they start aging and live a normal life and grow old and die. They are fast, great hearing, can see and breathe under water and they get the deep blue tribal tattoo you have.”

Once again my mouth had popped open and I slowly closed it again. “That fits in on what happened…”  I mumbled. “So I’m a mermaid?”

“Oh! And there was one more thing.” Nessie said. “The eyes, when you’re in water they’ll change color to the same deep blue as your tattoo, and your eyelashes will get thicker.”

“That’s why my eyes got cold for a second at the same time I got the tattoo.” I said and Nessie nodded.

“Do you want to tell the rest? Or do you want to keep it a secret?”

“I dunno, what’d you do?” I asked.

“I’d tell them, but I know them better…” Nessie said.

“Okay, we’ll do it like this; we don’t go around saying ‘hey! Sam’s a mermaid’. If someone asks ‘bout my tattoo or my eyes – or something else – we’ll tell them. That means you can tell too, but only if they ask, but on one except of the rest of the group are allowed to know.”

Nessie nodded. “’Kay, let’s go.” She stood up from my bed. “I bet Embry’s getting impatient.”

I hang my bag over my shoulder and opened my bed room door. Nessie followed me out from my room and into the hall. “Bye, I’m going with Nessie to the beach!” I called into the house as me and Nessie went out in the front yard and closed the door.

Embry didn’t ask what we had talked about in my room, instead he and Nessie told me about the rest of their “pack” as they liked to call it – the ones who didn’t go to school anymore. There was Seth’s sister Leah, and Paul, Jared, Sam, his wife Emily, Jared’s girlfriend and Rachel who was engaged to Paul – and apparently Rachel’s Jake’s sister too, I wonder if he’s okay with the fact that one of his friends are engaged to his sister. They told me ‘bout the Leah, Sam, Emily love triangle and that Emily a was Leah and Seth’s cousin. After what happened with Sam Leah had been very bitter and not very friendly, but I felt sorry for her. And they told me that Paul had, had a very short temper before Rachel came to visit Jake and his dad a couple of years ago, but now he was very nice and happy. Jared and Kim had been a couple in about six years now – so as Paul and Rachel. And that is how old Nessie is. I thought.

“Have you ever had a boyfriend?” Nessie asked excitedly as Embry parked his car next to Brady and Collin’s.

“No, I’ve never been really into boys.” I said honestly. I know, I’m lame, I’m 16 and I’ve never had a boyfriend.

“’Never been really into boys’?” Nessie quoted. “Are you gay?” She asked, a little chocked, but not disgusted or anything.

I laughed out loud. “No, I’m not gay. But if I was, I’d totally be all over you.” I joked and bumped my shoulder into hers.

Both Embry and Nessie laughed with me as we joined the others at the beach. I could count up to ten towels lying on the beach. Claire, Kim and Rachel sat on theirs in bikinis in the sand talking and laughing while Rachel put sunscreen on Claire’s back. All the guys – Jared, Paul, Jake, Quil, Seth, Collin and Brady – were up on the cliff. I saw Quil making himself ready to jump and the rest waiting and joking about him being afraid like a girl, but to me, he didn’t looked very scared.

“Hey.” I said as I laid my towel in the sand next to Claire and sat down; Nessie laid her towel in the sand next to Kim and sat down too.

“Hi, guys.” She said.

“What took you guys so long?” Claire asked. “We’ve been waiting like, forever.” She complained.

“I needed to talk to Sam ‘bout something and it took longer than I thought it would.” Nessie said.

“Oh, and Sam, this is Rachel and Kim, you haven’t really met then yet, only said hi yesterday when you had to go.” Claire said.

“Hi, Sam, Claire and Nessie haven’t stopped talkin’ ‘bout you.” Rachel smiled.

I raised my eyebrows at Nessie and Claire but they both looked the other way, pretending they didn’t hear us – I know for sure Nessie heard. Then I smiled back at Rachel. “Hi, Rachel, engaged to Paul and Jake’s sister.”

Rachel nodded. “Yup, that’s me.”

“Any you’re Kim.” I said. “Jared’s girlfriend – not that I know him any better, but, yeah.”

“Hi, Sam.” She said. “New girl in school, live in Forks and crazy ‘bout water.” She smiled smugly.

“They told you that?” I asked, nodding my head towards Nessie and Claire.

“And ‘bout a thousand more.”

“Well, then as me, Sam, the girl whose crazy about water, I’m going to go joining the guys up at the cliff.” I said and stood up. I found my black shorts in my bag and took my jeans and t-shirt of so I only had my bikini and slipped my shorts on. “See ya.” I said as I turned my back to them and started walking up the little path up to the cliff. I heard Claire, Kim and Rachel asking Nessie ‘bout my tattoo. I could really feel the water calling to me. It was like it said Sam, come, you belong in the water.

“Hello.” I said as I made it up on the cliff. All eyes turned to me – well, some of them had already jumped – the ones left were Paul, Jake, Embry, Brady and Seth.

“Hey, Sam.” Seth said. “Are you diving?” He sounded a little doubtful.

I snorted. “I would beat you with my eyes closed and one hand behind my back.”

The rest of the guys “oh”-ed.

I turned to them. “I would kick your asses too.”

“I find that very hard to believe.” Paul said and stood with one raised eyebrow. “Do you even dare to jump?”

“Ha! I dare to dive and do a couple of flips.” I said and took a step forward so I only was a couple of inches away from his chest. He was much bigger than me and I had to tilt my head backwards a little to be able to look up at him. He looked down at me. “I bet 10 bucks that I can do more flips than you can.”

“You’re so on. You can give me the 10 bucks now to make it easier.”

I shook my head. “Nu-huh, you go first.” I gestured towards the edge and he stepped away from me so he could jump. I heard Jake, Embry, Seth and Brady betting with each other about who would win. Seth was the only one who believed I would win. He was about to get 30 bucks richer.

Paul stood at the edge, took a deep breath and threw himself off of the edge. I went to the edge so I could see him. He did three flips before he splashed into the water. When he came up again he looked up at me and looked very satisfied by himself. I rolled my eyes – but I don’t think he could see it from down there – and went to stand by the edge myself. I took a couple of steps backwards and took a deep breath before running towards the edge of the cliff and throwing myself of off the cliff. I did two flips in the air and when I did the last one I quickly jerked my shoulders anticlockwise and took a deep breath as I made myself spin like a screw as I splashed through the water. When I got under water I – for a second – felt the same cold feeling in my eyes as I had yesterday. I swam up to the surface and took another deep breath of air when I got my head out of the water.

Everyone on the beach – except of Paul – had chocked grins on their faces, Paul just looked chocked. Jake, Embry, Seth and Brady up on the cliff looked chocked too, but Seth looked also very smug and I figured that was because he just earned 30 dollars.

“You owe me 10 bucks.” I said to Paul as I made my way out of the water. I felt my eyes go cold again and I figured they went back to normal.

He huffed and glared at me.

“Paul, give Sam her money.” Rachel said in a fake stern voice.

“He can give me them later.” I said. “Now, c’mon.” I whined and pulled one of Claire’s arms and one of Kim’s.

“Whew, you’re dripping of water!” Claire exclaimed and tried to get her arm out of my grip.

“No shit, I just dove from the cliff and into the water but I’m not wet.” I said sarcastically and rolled my eyes at her. “Don’t you guys ever actually are in the water when you’re here? Or do you just sit here on the beach?” I let go of Kim and focused on getting Clair into the water only.

“We usually go swimming a little after a while.” Kim explained.

“But that is so boring!” I complained while laughing. “C’mon!”

“Nu-huh!” Claire laughed. Then it suddenly – for half a second – came a light from my left, like a flash, and I looked up to see Seth grinning down at a camera.

“Hey!” I said and let go of Claire. I marched over to Seth and snapped the camera out of his hands. “What are you doing?” I looked down at the picture. It was me and Claire laughing. Claire sat down – totally dry – at her towel and I held her arm and tried to get her off of the towel – I was dripping wet.

“I’m collecting material for my art work.” He said simply and took the camera back.

“But I wasn’t supposed to be in it, it was supposed to be Claire and Kim.”

“Well, yeah, but you’re going to make me be in your pics, so you’ll have to live with it.”

I rolled my eyes at him and went back to trying to get the girls to come play in the water.

We were at the beach much longer than I had thought we would. When it was 5.30 pm everyone was out of the water – even I had made myself to sit in the sand instead. No one had seemed to the thing about my eyes, but I had gotten a few questions ‘bout my tattoo. Nessie still was the only one who knew about my secret, and I was glad I hadn’t had to explain everything to anyone, not even I was so sure about this yet. In the last hour I had heard all the guys stomachs growl several times and once again Quil’s stomach did.

“Hungry, much?” Claire laughed and kissed his cheek.

“Do you think Emily has made dinner?” Embry asked.

“I dunno, someone maybe can go check?” Collin said. Were they all going to go home to Sam and Emily to eat dinner? I mean, they would need very much food.

“Not it!” Quil exclaimed and after that everyone else did the same thing.

“I can go.” I said and stood up. “Which direction?”

“We’ll go with ya.” Claire said as she and Nessie stood up too. Jake gave Nessie a quick kiss on the mouth and then we headed off towards Sam and Emily’s.

We walked through the forest, on a little path. It was really nice walking in the forest, mental note: walk in the forest more often.

“Sam, in the water when we were planning out attack on Nessie and Rachel” – me Claire, Nessie and Rachel had, had a water war – “your eyes seemed a little different. It looked like you had lots and lots of mascara and – I’m not sure, but – it looked like your eyes were a different color…” Claire said.

I stopped abruptly and quickly glanced at Nessie.

“What’s wrong?”  Claire asked and looked at us, confused.

“Um…” Did Claire know Nessie wasn’t human? It would be much easier if she did… “Does she know...? About... you?” I asked Nessie quietly, trying not to make Claire hear.

Nessie nodded.

I turned to Claire. “Um, okay… that’s something that happens when I’m swimming – I don’t know if it’d happen it’s raining or anything – and the reason is... I’m… not human…” I looked down at the ground. I had said the “not human” part extremely fast, so I hoped she herd it.

Claire gasped. Yup, she heard. “Not human…” she mumbled to herself. “What are you then?” She asked. She didn’t sound unsure or anything like that when she asked, she just sounded interested,

“A mermaid.” I said, not as afraid she would run away, screaming, as before. Then Claire looked at Nessie.

“Did you know?” She asked. She sounded hurt.

Nessie looked down at the ground. “Yes…” She whispered.

“Why didn’t anyone tell me?” Now Claire sounded real upset. “Who more knows? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I promised not to tell anyone.” Nessie still didn’t look at Claire.

“Hey, Claire, it was me who didn’t want anyone to know.” I said. I mean, it wasn’t Nessie’s fault.

Claire turned to me. “Why did you tell her then? Why not me?!” Her voice rose and she almost yelled the last question.

“Claire, please, calm down.” Nessie said. “They’ll hear you.” And that was something I didn’t understand. Who would hear her?

“Why did you tell Nessie and not me?” Clair asked me, ignoring Nessie. She didn’t yell but she still was very upset and her eyes had started to get wet.

“I’m not human, you are.” Nessie whispered. “I could understand better.”

“Did she know about you? Does she know about them?!” Claire shouted at Nessie.

“Know ‘bout who?” I asked and looked at first Claire and then Nessie.

“Keep out of this!” Clare glared at me.

My eyes winded. “It’s because of me you’re shouting at Nessie, for god’s sake!” I yelled back.

Claire turned to me again. “Okay, then! Can you tell me why you didn’t want me to know?! Am I not as important as Nessie since I’m not a magical creature?!”

“Nessie said that she was a good listener so I told her everything that had happened to me and then she just happened to be a half vampire! I didn’t know that when I told her!”

“And then you couldn’t tell me afterwards?!” Claire shouted. Her eyes weren’t wet anymore, now they seemed to burn. She was really pissed, and she had made me pissed too.

In the back of my head I noticed that Nessie ran back towards the beach in inhuman speed, probably to get the others or something.

“Yes, I could, but I didn’t want anyone but Nessie to know!”

“Oh, so I’m just the unimportant human who you don’t need to tell anything?!” Claire shouted at me. “Why don’t you just take your bitchy attitude and go back to where you came from?! You’ve just been a pain in the ass!”

I gasped. Oh, no, she didn’t. She was the one who started yelling just because I wanted to keep the mermaid thing a secret! She’s the one with the bitchy attitude and I know she liked me! She never thought I was a pain in the ass! What she said made me see red and I narrowed my eyes at her. I raised my right hand and slapped her right across her left chin.

I heard several gasps – not only Claire’s – as she put her hand on her chin where I had slapped her. Claire turned around and I looked over her head. There stood Nessie, Quil, Jake and Paul. Quil was shaking like crazy and Jake was trying to hold him back.

“Quil, calm down.” He commanded, but it didn’t seem to help.

“Yeah, right. She hit Claire, I know she’s a 16 year old girl but what would you do if she hit Nessie?” Quil said darkly as he stared at me.  Okay, what did he thing he would do? Kill me? If this mermaid thing was right he won’t be able to catch me.

Quil’s shaking got worse and soon he only was like a blur. Jake, Paul and Nessie backed away from him and Claire backed away from me – a little into the forest, but you could still see her. I didn’t move out of my spot while carefully watching Quil. What the fuck was he doing?

“Sam, get away!” Jake said to me.

“Why?” I wondered.

“He’ll hurt you.”

I snorted. “Because I slapped Claire? She called me a bitch and yelled at Nessie for something that wasn’t her fault!” Then I looked directly at Quil and narrowed my eyes. “She deserved it.”

Quil growled and stopped shaking, instead he exploded. His clothes ripped into pieces and in his place there was now standing a huge chocolate brown wolf.

My eyes winded and I gasped.

The wolf lunged itself forwards – towards me. It was extremely fast. I really hope Carlisle was right. I thought as I ran as fast as I could towards the wolf – and he had been right, I was so fast I shouldn’t have seen anything, everything should just have been a blur, but I saw everything just as clear as if I’d been walking.

The wolf was taken aback so I easily passed it and then Nessie, Jake and Paul as I ran towards the beach. They all looked shocked – even Nessie – as they looked after me. I wasn’t totally sure what I was doing either. I still had my bikini on so I dove into the water and swan about 900 feet out under the water before I stopped and swam back up. Everyone stood by the shore and looked at me as if I was an alien – well, Nessie only looked admiring and interested, but she already knew about this – and again, instead of Quil there was a ginormous chocolate brown wolf. And by the way, why was he a wolf? How did he turn into a wolf? And what was I supposed to do now? I mean, the Quil wolf still looked furious so there was no way in hell I was going back up there, I would just be torn to pieces. And I was still mad at Claire. But who would I get home? Well, I could just get up somewhere else and find my way home – that actually wasn’t the biggest problem – my biggest problem was that if I got home dripping wet in my bikini my parents would flip. I needed my clothes.

Så då vet ni att det nog kommer ta ett tag innan nästa kapitel kommer upp eftersom jag inte orkar sitta så mkt och skriva just nu

Into the Sea, kap. 4

Jag vet, det var ett tag sen. Men jag sa att jag inte hade så mkt tid den här veckan. Här är i alla fall fjärde kapitlet av ItS:

Chapter 4

The next morning I got up extra early to check where the Cullens in Forks lived. I had decided to talk to Nessie and I wanted to do it as fast as possible. When I had the address I got dressed and went out to the kitchen and drank three glasses of water – I wonder if the “lovin’ water”-thing has something to do with what happened yesterday? I hung my bag over my shoulder and grabbed my board and just when I as quiet as possible opened the door I heard my mom and dad waking up.

“Shit!” I muttered tried to open the door some more. But of course it creaked.

“Samantha? Is that you?” Mom asked from her bedroom. In my head a battle ‘bout if I should answer her or not was going on, but I decided not to and slipped out the door and closed it behind me. I had leaved a not on the kitchen table that said I had gone to Nessie – not a lie – ‘cause she needed help with something before school.

The Cullen house lay right outside of Forks. I was lucky and lived at the right side of Forks so it only took about 40 minutes to get there on my board, I don’t even wanna think about how long it would take to walk. I found the slip rode that led to their house – I almost missed it by the way, it’s sounded by trees – and started rolling down by a smaller, straight, about 500 meters long road. Their house was huge and one whole wall was made out of glass! With my extremely, weirdly good hearing I heard a TV that was turned on, on the first floor and it sounded like soccer, I heard two persons cooking in the kitchen and I heard someone moving and snoring in a bed at the third floor, still sleeping. I took my board under my arm and walked up on the front porch. Just as I raised my hand to knock the door flung open and a beautiful, small and pale woman with golden eyes and short, black, pixie like hair stood in front of me.

“Hi, you must be Sam, I’m Alice.” She said, took my hand, dragged me inside and closed the door behind me.

“Um, yeah… Hi…” I said, a little shocked. When she touched me I had got the same weird feeling from her like I had gotten from Seth and the others.

“Nessie’s upstairs in her room still sleeping, but you can wake her, she needs to get up anyway.” Alice said and pushed me towards the stairs. “It’s on the third floor; she’s the only one having a room up there so I’m sure you’ll find her.”

“Uh… thanks.” I said and smiled a little at her, she smiled back – which only made her more beautiful – and I went up the stairs.

On the second floor there was a corridor with four white doors – two to the right and two to the left. I had to go through the corridor to come to the stairs that led up to the third and last floor. At the third floor there was a corridor too, but it was smaller, and there were only three rooms here, one to the left, one to the right and one straight ahead of me. I listened to hear where Nessie was I heard someone moving in a bed and mumbling something in his or her sleep in the room to the left. I carefully opened the door and peaked in. the room was big and light with a big queen sized bed to my right. The wall straight ahead of me – that was to the forest – was completely made out of glass and there was another door in the wall to my left. There were some drawers and other stuff in there too, but I didn’t pay much attention to it ‘cause in the bed laid Nessie. I went in and closed the door behind me as I went straight to the bed and sat down.

“Nessie.” I said carefully and shook her shoulder a little. “Nessie, wake up, I need to talk to you.”

“Just five more minutes…” She mumbled and rolled over to the other side of the bed.

“No, now.” I said and walked over to the foot of her bed. I grabbed her quilt and pulled – hard and fast – since she was half asleep and not ready I easily got it out of her hands and off of the bed. She flew up in surprise and looked around her, when she saw me I grinned smugly and she raised an eyebrow.

“Really, Sam? My quilt?”

“Alice said I could wake you, she didn’t say how and you wouldn’t wake up.”

She rolled her eyes and muttered “Alice” under her breath and then got out of the bed and walked over to the other door. She opened it and inside was another room – not as big as her bedroom, thought – full of clothes, shoes and accessories, there even was a make-up table.

This is your closet?” I asked, amazed.

“Yup, Alice fixed it.” She said and went in. I followed her and sat down on a stool while Nessie decided what to wear.

“What do you think of this?” She asked me and held out a light pink summer dress.

“You would look perfect in it, but it’s nothing I would wear.” I answered and she smiled and held the dress out in front of her.

“Okay, then this one it is.” Then she looked at me. “Why did you come here so early? We are going to see each other in school.”

I sighed. “You said you were a good listener and wouldn’t tell anyone else what I said.”

“Oh, I’ll listen… and I promise to be totally serious and not talk ‘bout it to anyone.” She said and started taking her pajamas of.

“Well, yesterday I was at First Beach swimming…” And then I told her everything that had happened yesterday. She didn’t say anything while I was talking and when she had her dress on she sat down opposite to me on her own stool. When I was done I noticed that everything downstairs had gotten quiet. The TV was off, there was no one cooking anymore, I couldn’t even hear anyone breathe – not even Nessie. I furrowed my brows while wondering why it was so quiet.

“What’s wrong?” Nessie asked.

“Everything got totally quiet.” I told her.

“Yeah…” She laughed uneasily and stood up. “C’mon, I need breakfast and you need to meet my family.”

“’Kay.” I said and followed her to the first floor.

When we got down I felt like everyone was looking at me. I tried not to show them how uneasy I got – mostly ‘cause I had got this weird feeling ‘bout them.

“Sam, the two in the sofa are my uncles Jasper and Emmett.” Nessie said to me. One of them was very muscular – but not like the Quileutes – he had short, brown hair and golden eyes too. The other one had wavy honey-gold hair down to his shoulders and all visible parts of his body were full of half-moon shaped scars, he too had golden eyes. They were both utterly stunning. “The ones cooking are my aunt Alice – as you already know – and my grandma Esme.” Esme was very beautiful and had a sweet heart formed head. Her hair was light brown and went a little under her shoulders, but she didn’t looked like she could be Nessie’s grandma, her mom maybe. “Over there is Rosalie, another aunt.” Where Nessie pointed stood a woman – she was probably the most beautiful of them all – she had long, blonde hair and her eyes too was golden. Then another man came out from a room I didn’t know what it was. “And that’s my grandpa Carlisle.” He had short blonde hair and – like everyone else – was very beautiful and had golden eyes and like Esme he looked way to young to be Nessie’s grandpa. All of them were also very pale, but it suited them. “Everyone, this is my friend Sam.” I waved lamely at them and blushed. I saw the man in the sofa with honey-gold hair tensed a little but closed his eyes and took a deep breath through his mouth and he seemed to relax a little.

“Sam, do you want some food too?” Esme asked me and put Nessie’s plate with egg and bacon on the table.

I shook my head. “No, thanks, I’m not hungry.”

Nessie sat down in front of her plate and began eating. As I sat down too I heard a motorcycle come down the road towards the Cullen’s house and stop right outside, then five seconds later, the door opened and Jake walked in.

“Hey, Nessie.” He said with a big smile that seemed to lit up the whole house and went to sit by the table himself. As he passed Nessie he bent down and gave her a kiss on her cheek. Nessie had too much food in her mouth, so she couldn’t answer him. “Hey, Sam.” He greeted me too.

I smiled at him. “Hi, Jake.”

Nessie swallowed the egg she had in her mouth and smiled at Jake. “Hello.”

Esme put down a plate with more as four times as much food as Nessie had got in front of Jake and looked at me. “Are you sure you don’t want anything?”

“No food thanks, but a glass of water?” I asked hopefully.

Jake rolled his eyes at me and turned to Esme. “Give her the biggest glass you can find.”

I huffed. “I don’t drink that much.”

“Yes, you do.” Jake said and showed a huge bite of bacon into his mouth. Esme gave me my glass of water and a thanked her. I tried not to drink it all at ones to prove Jake wrong, but it was hard.

When we were done it was 7.40 am and time to get to school.

“Bye!” Nessie said to her family as me, she and Jake headed outside and she closed the door behind us.

I looked at Jake’s motorcycle that was parked in front of us. “Um, I just have one tiny question. Do you guys expect me to sit on that? Whit it’s rolling?” I asked, pointing at the motorcycle.

“Yeah, pretty much.” Nessie said. “It’s not going to be much room and we only have one helmet, so you get to choose – do you want to sit between me and Jake, or sit behind me? And do you want to have the helmet, or should I take it?” She asked me as Jake got on the motorcycle.

“I have the helmet!” I almost shouted ‘cause I was so scared. “And it’s safer to be almost squished to death between you, right?”

“Probably, if you don’t hold on tight enough at the back I think you could fall off.”

“I sit behind Jake!” I said quickly. I was scared to death here; I was going to sit on a motorcycle – when it was going – for god’s sake!

“’Kay, c’mon then.” Jake said and clapped behind him.

“Wait! What ‘bout my board? Can we take it on the motorcycle too?” I asked.

“We can leave it here, I just have to get Emmett to promise that he won’t use it.” Nessie said and ran inside with it. When she came back I got on behind Jake and Nessie handled me the helmet.

“Thanks.” I said with a shaky voice and Jake chuckled. “It’s not funny!” I said as Nessie got on behind me and made me sit squished closer to Jake’s back than I’d ever been to any person before.

“Okay, now, Sam, you have to hold on to Jake – hard – and I’ll hold on to you – also very hard.” Nessie said and I did as she said. I put my hands around Jake’s waist and held on like my life depended on it – as It probably did – as Jake kicked the motorcycle to life and Nessie put her arms around me.

“Both of you – hold on hard.” Jake said and then we were flying down the road, towards La Push high.

When we got to school Jake kissed Nessie on the mouth and headed back home to his father. I and Nessie went to our lockers – Nessie’s locker was actually only three lockers from mine – to get our books.

“What is your first class?” I asked Nessie when I opened my locker. Of course Nessie wasn’t in my class since she was one year younger than me, but it didn’t hurt to ask.

“English, you?” She asked as she tried to find her English books.

“Math.” I said and sighed. “It’s so boring! Can’t we switch classes?” I asked her hopefully.

Nessie chuckled and closed her locker. “We can’t do that, Sam. You’re one year older than me.”

“Yeah… but we could try?” Of course I knew we couldn’t really switch classes.

“Sure.” Nessie said sarcastically and went to lean against the locker beside mine. “We’ll wait for the rest here; we always do that before classes’ start – as you saw yesterday.”

I closed my locker and lend against it. “’Kay.” I started thinking ‘bout my ‘weird feelings’ I’ve had ‘bout Nessie and Seth and the rest. It wasn’t like… a bad feeling, it just wasn’t normal.

As if Nessie could read my mind she asked: “Are you going to tell the others? ‘Bout what happened yesterday, I mean.”

“I dunno… I think I will keep it a secret for now, maybe I’ll tell them later…”

Nessie nodded and then I heard Quil and Clair coming this way. They weren’t near us yet and a normal person wouldn’t have heard it. “Soon Quil and Claire will come around that corner.” I whispered to Nessie and half a minute later they did. Quil had his arm around Claire’s shoulder again – had someone glued it there or something? – but when Claire saw us she unleashed herself from his grip and came up to us.

“Hey, Sam.” She said and gave me a hug.

“Hi, Claire.” I said as she let go of me and turned to Nessie.

“Hey, Nessie.” She said and gave her a hug.

“Hi.” Nessie greeted her and looked then behind Claire at Quil who had come forward. “Hi, Quil.”

“Hi.” I said to him.

“Hello, Nessie, Sam.” Quil said with a grin on his face as he laid his arm around Claire’s shoulders again. How can she stand it? I would have gone crazy if I had to walk around with someone’s arm around my shoulders 24/7! After about three minutes Embry, Seth, Colin and Brady joined us to. We all greeted them and talked a few minutes before all of us went different ways to get to class. And I had math! Ugh!

When I got to math class Joseph was already there, but he seemed to be trying to sit as fas away from as he could. I looked questioning at him but he just glanced at me and then quickly looked back down at his books.

“Is something wrong?” I asked him.

“Well, no…” He looked very uneasy so moved my chair away from him a little, hoping it would help him. “It’s just that you… you’re hanging out with… them…” Them? He looked like he was afraid I was going to get mad at him.

“’Them’? You mean Nessie and Claire and the others?” I asked, he must be meaning them, ‘cause they’re the only ones I’ve been hanging out with here.

Joseph nodded but avoided looking at me.

“Is there something wrong with ‘them’?” I asked.

“Nothing’s really wrong with them… they’re just different, other students doesn’t really talk to them more then necessary, but since you hang out with them you perceived as… different too…”

I raised an eyebrow at him, but he didn’t look at me so I don’t think he noticed. Then the math teacher called everyone’s attention and started the class. Math wasn’t very difficult, I easily passed it but I wasn’t near having the best grades in class either. My best class was art, and I’m pretty sure I was one of the best students in that class too. I couldn’t wait ‘till next lesion so I could continue on my Quileute legends work. Math class felt like it lasted for years, but eventually the bell rang and I was out of there before anyone else had got up from their seat. I quickly went to my locker and switched books, well, in art we didn’t had any books to bring so I really just left my math book in my locker and went to art class with pencil, eraser and my diary.

This time went straight outside instead of going to the classroom. Seth wasn’t there yet so I went to the spot where we sat yesterday and laid down on my back in the grass with my hands under my head. I closed my eyes and relaxed a little and felt that I was very tired. I had hardly gotten any sleep the night before. I think I passed out for like, three minutes ‘cause suddenly something long and narrow tickled me on my nose, waking me up. I tried to push it away but it just returned to my face and started tickling again. Then I heard a low chuckle, and I recognized the voice.

“God dammit, Seth, give it a rest!” I exclaimed and opened my eyes to glare at him. “I hardly slept anything yesterday so I’m very tired.” I said as I sat up.

“Take it easy, Sam.” Seth chuckled and I glared at him again.

Not funny.” I said. Then Mrs. Oland stood up and told everyone to start working. I turned to Seth. “So, do you know how you want to work?”

“I’ve talked to Claire and Nessie and they’re going to be my models, I’m going to take pictures of them together doing stuff they like, like swimming or shopping.” He said proudly.

“Well, then there isn’t much we can do now, you don’t have Nessie and Claire, either you or I have any cameras and I don’t have the rest of the group.” I said.

“Why would you need the rest of the guys?” Seth asked, confused.

“I told you yesterday, I’m going to use you guys as models.”

“Oh, no.” Seth said and held his hands up in front of him. “Don’t tell me you’re still into that ‘we-dress-up-as-legend-stuff-and-you-take-photos’-thing.”

“I am, and you’re going to do it even if I have to make you.” I said firmly.

“Try to make me.” He said teasingly and stretched his arm muscles.

What a showoff. I rolled my eyes at him just as Mrs. Oland came up from behind Seth and laid her hand on his shoulder.

“Why aren’t you two working?” She asked. She didn’t sound angry or irritated like any other teacher would have, she just sounded… curious or something.

“We can’t.” Seth said and turned to look at her.

“We need cameras and stuff; we’re going to do it after school instead.” I explained to her.

She nodded. “Okay, well, then, maybe you could sketch or something then, it’s always good raising your grade.” When she said the last thing she looked especially at Seth, looks like he doesn’t have a very high art grade.

When Mrs. Oland went back to her spot under the big tree I went and got some papers and then walked back to Seth, giving one to him.

“You need to raise your art grade?” I asked him.

He scratched his neck. “Well, let’s just say I’m not a very good painter.”

I laughed out loud and started sketching Seth standing up on the cliff over First Beach, about to jump. “You don’t have to be a great painter to get a good grade in art; you just have to be creative.” I said and looked up at him. “It’s your ideas that matter, and when you get to do almost whatever you want you have a great chance to find out your own way of creatively express yourself.” I looked down at my paper again and continued sketching. Seth was quiet for a while; I guess I gave him a lot to think about.

“What’cha doin’ after school today?” Seth asked me after about 15 minutes of silence.

“Um, I dunno, why?”

“I – well, we – was wondering if you wanted to come to First Beach with us after school.”

“Sure.” I said and smiled at him.

After school we all met by mine and Nessie’s lockers again to go to First Beach together.

“I have to go home to get my bikini first.” I said as we all walked out on the parking lot.

“Okay, I’ll give you a ride.” Embry said.

“Thanks.”

We stopped in front of two cars – I have no idea what kind of cars it was – I only knew that one was black and looked kina’ like something I thought was a jeep and the other one looked like a blue ‘normal car’ – you know? The sort of car you usually draw when you’re fiver years old? And beside the two cars there was a motorcycle. Jake wasn’t here so I guess someone else have one too, I just hope it wasn’t Embry.

“Who’s that?” I asked, pointing to the motorcycle.

“It’s mine.” Quil said and I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.

“And this one is mine and Collin’s.” Brady said and laid one hand on the ‘normal car’.

“The jeep’s mine.” Embry said.

“Collin, Brady and Seth are going in Collin and Brady’s car,” Nessie said. “Quil and Claire are taking Quil’s motorcycle, and you and I are going with Embry.”

“See ya’ at First Beach, then.” Quil said and kicked the motorcycle to life and speeding of with Claire sitting behind him. Collin, Brady and Seth got into their car and drove of too. Embry got into the driver’s seat in his car and I sat beside him and Nessie in the backseat.

“So, where do you live?” Embry asked. I guided him the right way and soon he stopped the car outside my house.

“You guys can just wait here, I’ll go pack.” I said as loosened my seatbelt and opened the door. I heard Nessie loosen her seatbelt too and looked back at her.

“I’m coming with you; I need to talk ‘bout something with you… in private.” She looked at Embry who nodded understanding and she jumped out of the car.

“We’ll be right back.” I said to Embry and closed the car door.

“What did you wanted to talk to me ‘bout?” I asked Nessie as we crossed the road and walked up to the front door.

“I’ll tell you when we’re in your room.”

When I opened the door mom and dad stood in the hall in exactly the same pose – arms crossed over their chests and tapping their right foot on the floor.

“Samantha, where were you this morning?” Dad asked sternly.

“I wrote a not…” I said. “I went to Nessie’s place to help her with… something.”

“And what is this ‘something’?” Mom asked.

“Um…” I had no idea what to say, I was not good at coming up with lies.

“She… helped me with a biology project, which I had to leave to my teacher today.” Nessie said. She sounded so… so… not lying. If I didn’t know it was a lie I’d probably thing she was telling the truth.

“You must be Nessie, then?” Mom asked and both she and dad looked at Nessie up and down.

“Yup – Renesmee Carlie Cullen – that’s me.” Nessie shook my parent’s hands and smiled at them. They both looked a little dazzled when I and Nessie went into my room.

Nessie sat down on my bed and I started packing down my bikini and other stuff you could need at the beach.

“Okay, since you told me ‘bout what happened to you yesterday I got permission from my family to tell you something.” Nessie started.

I looked up at her. “Tell me what?” I asked curiously.

She inhaled deeply and began talking. “This mornin’, did you notice that Esme and Carlisle looked way too young to be my grandparents? Or that my whole family is pale as snow, have golden eyes and are the most beautiful creatures you’ve ever seen?” She looked down at her lap and didn’t wait for me to answer her. “When I begin explaining to you, you have to remember I’m telling the truth, just like you did, ‘kay? First, Carlisle was born in the 1620’s; he’s over 350 years old.”

I gasped. No way he’s over 350 years old; he looked like he was 25 or something.

“Esme was born in the late 1800’s, Rosalie in 1915, Emmett in 1935, and Alice in the beginning of the 1900’s and Jasper in 1843 – none of them age, and I’m going to stop aging too, in about one year – when I’m seven years old, I was born in 2006.”

Now I was totally confused, the youngest in her family – apart of her – was Emmett, and he was almost 80 years old? That’s impossible.

“You didn’t meet my parents – Edward and Bella. My dad was born in 1901 and my mom in 1987. None of my family is human, not even I… well, I’m half human…” She looked up at me. “Do you know what we are? Do you want to know what we are?”

She seemed to wait for me to response so I nodded. I was way to chocked and nervous to talk.

“We’re… we’re vamps, vampires, bloodsuckers, leeches.”

Into the Sea, kap. 3

I alla fall, här är kapitel tre;

Chapter 3

Okay, I know that going swimming maybe wouldn’t seem like something you do instead of hanging out with your friends – but for me, it is. I’d give up many experiences so I could go swimming, unfortunately I can’t do that very much because of my parents. On Sundays I sometimes have to go to the church! I anyone got to know that, I’d die! I got to the parking lot by First Beach and stopped my skateboard. I took it under my arm and started walking down the path that led to the beach. My parents thought that I was at Nessie’s house, I knew they’d approve of her if they met her – she was pale and lived in Forks, the only thing I can think of that they wouldn’t like ‘bout her is that she’s dating a Quileute, but there was no need to tell them that.

I got down to the beach and took my jeans and tank top of so I only wore my blue, black and pink Warp bikini top and black bikini bottom. I took my black Nike training shorts out of my bag and put them on too, I always wore training shorts when I was swimming. I know, they’re not for swimming, but I like wearing them anyway so, live with it. I had gone straight home after school and packed my bag with the shorts, towel, underwear and bra, the bikini – minus shorts – I had put on under my clothes. I had said I was going over to Nessie and then I had gone to the beach instead. So now, here I was, in my bikini – I count the shorts as a part of the bikini – and ready to jump into the water. I looked around me and saw – to my right – a high cliff over the water. I smiled to myself and packed my clothes into my bag and hung it over my shoulder. I took my skate board under my arm again and started jogging towards the cliff. It would be perfect diving from and I didn’t want to leave my stuff on the beach where people could take it. I dumped my bag and board between a rock and a bush – I think the bag fell into the bush, good now it was hard to see it – up on the cliff and walked towards the edge. When I stood on the edge I looked down on the water below me.

“Wow!” I mumbled to myself. If was a long way down, but I wasn’t very afraid, I’d done thins before. Not from here, but other places. I took five long steps backwards and then stopped. I inhaled and exhaled heavily and then ran. I dove from the edge and felt the air around me as I flew. It took only a second but it felt like an hour until I hit the water. First my hands which I held straight out in front of me, then my arms, head, chest, stomach, legs and last my feet. It was wonderful being back in water again and when I got my head out of the water I took a deep breath for air and smiled – then my eyes got cold and I felt like a painful burn by my lower back and clenched my teeth together not to scream.

“Ow!” I said when it as suddenly as it started, stopped. “What was that?” I felt around my eyes with my fingers but didn’t feel anything weird; I swam back to land so I could take a look and my back and gasped. On my lower back – where it had felt like I burned – I now had something that looked like a tattoo! It was deep blue and looked like a tribal. It looked like it started in the middle of my lower back and went on both to the left and to the right. In the middle, under the tattoo – if it was a tattoo – there also was two lines of waves… I think. It looked kind of cool, but it was also creepy, how and why did I get it? I felt a strong need to get back to the water so I walked back into it and didn’t stop until I had water up to my stomach. Once again I turned my upped body so I could look at the tattoo. What was I supposed to do now? Go home and say ‘mom, dad, I got a tribal tattoo on my lower back, I hope that’s okay?’ not exactly. Then something hit me, my lower back – and the tattoo – was under the water, so the tattoo should look a little wavy and cloudy, but it didn’t. It looked just normal, as if there was no water there. Now when I thought ‘bout it, I saw everything under the water just as clear as I saw everything over the water. Okay, this was getting kinda’ weird. Then I heard footsteps coming this way on the path from the parking lot. I turned that way and heard Nessie and Clair laughing together with three other women I didn’t know, Embry, Quil and Jake were talking ‘bout cars, Seth, Collin and Brady ‘bout some videogame and I also heard three other men that I didn’t know talk ‘bout a bonfire that was coming up this weekend. That was 14 persons, but I also hear one more person walking with them, but he or she was quiet. I’m pretty sure it isn’t normal that I can hear all this and I didn’t wanted to see any of them – even if they’re my friends – until I’ve figured at least some of this out. Then I heard someone stop – and be’cause of that everyone stopped.

“What is that smell?” One of the unknown men asked.

They were almost out on the beach now, I couldn’t see the yet but I heard someone sniff the air and then Seth exclaimed “It’s Sam!”

“Sam is right there, you moron.” The 15th person who hadn’t talked before said, she was a woman.

“No, not that Sam…” Collin said.

“… Samantha, the new girl.” Brady continued.

“C’mon, Em!” Claire said happily.

“It looks like Sam’s here, we’ll introduce you.” Nessie said, and then she, Claire and a woman I’ve never seen before came out on the beach and looked around. Fast I took a deep breath and dove under the water and swam away from the beach – but I think Nessie saw me.

Even if I love swimming I’ve never been good at holding my breath and after 30 seconds I started getting dizzy and my head started to hurt, but I pushed myself and suddenly I couldn’t hold it any longer. I automatically took a deep breath – but nothing happened! I stopped and looked around confused just to check that I really was under water. Yes, seaweed, stones and fishes, defiantly under water. I tested and took a couple of small breaths, I felt the water coming into my mouth and nose, but in some magical way it didn’t get down to my lungs. I could breathe under water!  Oh my god! And the fishes didn’t seem to be afraid of me; they swam around me just as if I was a fish too. I looked down at my body to make sure I hadn’t turned into a fish and sighed relieved when I looked just normal. I swam up to the water surface and looked around; I couldn’t see First Beach anywhere! How far had I gone? I’d only bean swimming in like, half a minute. Could that mean…? No, I hadn’t been swimming that fast, hadn’t I? Or maybe I had… I had been so focused on not being at First Beach that I hadn’t paid any attention to how fast I was. Just to test it I swam back again – under water –, not as fast as I could, but faster than normal. This time I was back in the water of First Beach within three minutes.

When I was about 1500 foot from the beach I could already see it and everything under the water clearly – when I was under the water. Right then someone splashed through water surface with his arms first, just like I had. I think he was one of the unknown men who I’d heard. I was too far away so he couldn’t see me, but I saw him clearly. He looked practically as all the other guys in their group, so there’s no need to describe him. When he had moved out of the way someone else came flying of off the edge of the cliff… on it was two persons. Quil and Claire. Quil had his arms around Claire and they jumped – not dove – with their feet first. It looked so cute. I smiled for myself. Then I remembered something, my clothes and board! I couldn’t go home in this, my dad would kill me! But my bag was up at the cliff and there was no way I could get up there without anyone noticing me, and I can’t wait until they’re done, ‘cause then I’m going to get home way too late. Okay, now I have a big problem. But, they haven’t been her for more than five minutes. I can come from the other end of the beach – in normal speed – and just tell them that I was over there – mostly under the water – and didn’t see them until then. Yes! That’s what I’m going to do.

I was at the other side of the beach in one second and then started swimming back again. I saw Jake and Nessie dive from the cliff and splash into the water together. Claire saw me first.

“Sam!” She shouted. “You’re here?”

“Yup, I was over there” I nodded behind me “and didn’t see you guys ‘till now.” I saw Nessie raise one eyebrow and give me a ‘you’re lying’-look. I tried to give her an innocent smile but I’m not sure if worked. “Anyway, I was just goin’ to get my stuff and go home.” I got out of the water and walked up the path that led up on the cliff trying as nonchalant as possible hide my back, but I don’t think it looked very nonchalant. I got up on the cliff which was now empty ‘cause everyone had jumped. I took my shorts of and dried myself with my towel. I put my jeans over the bikini and just as I put my tank top over my bikini top Nessie came up on the cliff again. I stood with my back to where you come up on the cliff without really thinking of it but now I felt Nessie’s gaze burn a hole in my lower back where the tattoo was.

“You got a-“ I quickly pulled my tank top over the tattoo and rushed to Nessie’s side, putting my hand over her mouth.

“Don’t say anything!” I whispered to her and looked down at the others; to my relief they didn’t seem to pay any attention to us.

“Look,” Nessie said and pushed my hand away “I saw you in the water, you were here all the time.”

I sighed heavily. “Do we have to talk ‘bout i?”

She shook her head. “Not if you don’t want to, but I’m a good listener and if you want me to I’ll keep my mouth shut.”

“Don’t tell anyone ‘bout the tattoo.” I pleased. “I’ll think ‘bout it, right now I just wanna go home, but if I want to talk I’ll tell ya.”

“Good,” Nessie nodded “and I won’t tell anyone ‘bout the tattoo.”

“Thanks.” I hugged her tight and followed her down to the beach.

When we got down Nessie stopped me and turned so we were facing everyone. “Hey, guys!” Everyone looked at her. “Guys, this is Sam, she’s going home now but I thought I’d’ introduce you first. Sam those you haven’t met before are Emily, Rachel and Kim, Leah, Jared, Paul and Sam.” Nessie pointed everyone out. Emily, Rachel and Kim sat in the sand with Claire talking, Leah laid tanning on a towel and Sam, Jared and Paul were in the water with the rest of the guys. Emily had a big scar across the right side of her face, but I tried not to look at it.

“So you’re the Sam Clair have been talkin’ so mush ‘bout? It’s nice meeting you.” Emily said and waved at me. All of them – apart from Leah who just ignored us – said one ‘hey’, ‘hi’ or ‘hello’ each and then I went home.

“Did you have a good time at your friend’s house?” Mom asked when I closed the door behind me.

“Yeah… it was great.” I said.

“What did you do?” Shit! At least I’m a pretty good liar. That didn’t sound good.

“Um… nothin’… we just… chilled in her garden…?” It sounded like a question, but mom didn’t seem to notice.

“That’s good.” She nodded and went back to her crossword or whatever it was.

20th September, 8.15 pm

Dear diary,

2day something really scary happened! I was @ First Beach in La Push 2 swim and when I got in the water it – for a second – started burning on my lower back and my eyes got cold. I got out of the water 2 check my lower back and I had a deep blue tribal tattoo there! My eyes felt OK, though. I then felt a strong need 2 get back in2 the water so I did, and I could see everything under water as clear as over the water! Then I heard some friends from school come walking towards the beach. I could hear who many they were and everything! A normal person wouldn’t have heard them. I didn’t wanted them 2 C the tattoo so I swan – under the water – as fast as I could and when I couldn’t hold my breath any longer I automatically took a deep breath, but nothing happened! I could breathe under the water. I swan up 2 C were I was and saw that I had ended up right out in the middle of the ocean! I had swum so fast I almost think I turned invisible!

So, as a conclusion; 1) I got a tribal tattoo, 2) I saw everything under water clearly, 3) I heard everything, 4) I could breathe under water, and 5) I swum extremely fast.

I also have this feeling that none of the guys plus Nessie and Leah in Seth’s group of friends are normal people, I get weir vibes from them.

Night…

That night I couldn’t sleep, I had to mush to think about. What was wrong with me? How did I got that tattoo? Was it because I jumped into the water? I’ve been swimming many times before, why now? Why could I see clearly under water? Why could I breathe under water? Why was I suddenly so fast? Why did I hear everything? What was happening to me? Eventually I fell asleep, and little did I know that I was going to be a part of something big and bad.

Into the Sea, kap. 2

Fick ingen rspons på första kapitlet, men jag ger inte upp! Haha! Här är i alla fall andra kapitlet;

Chapter 2

When I to the lunch line I saw a familiar head a few paces in front of me, and he seemed to know I was there or something ‘cause he turned around just when I was about to call his name.

“Hey, Sam.” Seth said and went over to stand by me in the line.

“Hey.”

“You don’t like Mr. Smith?” Seth asked me.

My eyes winded a little. “What? How do you know that?”

He chuckled a little. “Well, things spread fast here.”

I raised one eyebrow at him. “I happened like, five minutes ago, stuff can’t spread that fast.”

“Yeah, it can here. It’s a small school, ya’ know.”

“Whatever.” I said and rolled my eyes at him. I got three glasses of water – I’d learned how to carry many glasses of water at the same time by the years – and a slice of pizza, Seth got… I don’t know what Seth got, but I’m pretty sure he got half of the food in the cafeteria.

“C’mon, you can sit with us.” Seth said and started walking towards the other side of the cafeteria.

“Who’s ‘us’?” I asked.

“Me, Quil, Embry, Brady, Collin, Claire and Nessie.”

“Aha… is it the ones you were with this mornin’? ‘cause they’re not here.”

“No, they’re sitting outside, we always do that.” Then I noticed the door than he was heading towards, well, I had seen it there before but I hadn’t really paid it any attention.

When we got outside I spotted the group of kids sitting together in the grass, but now there were one more guy. What the fuck? Who was he? He sat beside the pale girl with his arm around his shoulder, just like the guy I talked to this morning had his arm over the Quileute girl. Seth didn’t seemed to mind the new guy being there, ‘cause he just started walking towards them. I’m pretty sure the new guy was a part of their group too since he too was an incredible big Quileute. I followed Seth like a little lame lost puppy. I was lost into my own thoughts so when Seth stopped I almost walked into him.

“This is Sam.” Seth said and sat down in the grass.

“Hi, Sam.” The Quileute girl said excitedly. “I’m Claire.”

“Hi.” I said and sat down with Seth on my left and the pale girl – who must be Nessie – on my right. I drank the first glass of water in a few seconds and put it down on the ground. We sat in a little circle and I had everyone’s attention – they were looking at me with that ‘figuring-out-a-hard-problem-look’ again, it was getting kind of weird. “Why are you looking at me like that? You were doing it this mornin’ too.” They all blinked and shook their heads as if they needed to get back to reality.

“Sam, this is Embry, Brady, Collin, Claire – as you already know –, Quil, Jake and Nessie.” Seth said and pointed everyone out for me. Embry sat next to Seth, Brady sat next Embry, Collin sat next to Brady and then it went on that way ‘till Nessie who sat beside me. Weird name by the way, Nessie, like the loch ness monster.

“Which grade do you go to, Sam? How old are you?” Nessie asked.

“11th, junior, 16 years.” I answered.

“Just like Seth, then.” Jake said.

Nessie turned to him and said “yeah, that might explain why the know each other, they have had a class together.” With a ‘dah’-expression, Jake just rolled his eyes at her and took a slice of pizza from Quil’s plate.

“Hey! Dude, get your own pizza!” Quil exclaimed and took up his plate from the ground so Jake wouldn’t take anything else.

“I graduated last year; if I go in there they’ll kick me out.” Jake took a bite out of the pizza.

“It’s not like they would be able to.” I mumbled and took a bit out of my own pizza slice – which I, for my defense, had not stolen from someone else. Out of the corner of my eye I saw smile, he’d probably heard what I’d said. “So which grades do you all go to?” I asked them all.

“I and Nessie are both freshmen…” Claire said.

“… I’m 15 and Claire’s 14.” Nessie continued.

“Brady and I are sophomores, we both are 16.” Collin said.

“I and Quil are seniors, I’m 18 and Quil turns 18 in November.” Embry said.

I looked at Jake. “And you?”

“I graduated last year and now I’m 19.”

“Aha…” I said and nodded my head. “But… why are you here, then? When I graduate I won’t go back to school at lunch time even it that was the only place on earth not on fire.”

“I’m here for Nessie.” Jake said he wasn’t looking at anymore; he was staring into Nessie’s eyes with so much love in his eyes that I had to look away.

“Nessie and Jake are in love.” Seth said to me.

I looked at him with one eyebrow raised. “No shit?” When accidently I looked back towards Nessie and Jake they were making out. I quickly looked away. Okay, they’re cute together, but really? In the schoolyard? They looked like they could rip their clothes of here and now.

Collin cleared his throat loudly.

“Get a room!” Brady said loudly so everyone around us looked. Jake and Nessie lend away from each other. Nessie blushed a cute hot pink and smiled sheepishly at me but Jake just glared at Brady and Collin. Mental not; do not interrupt Jake when he’s making out with Nessie!

“I’ll go get some more water.” I said and stood up. “Anyone wanna join me?”

“I can go with you.” Claire said and stood up too.

Quil looked skeptically at me. “What?” I asked.

“How much water do you drink? In 15 minutes you’ve already drunk three glasses.”

I shrugged. “I dunno, I’ve always loved water.”

“C’mon, Sam.” Clair took my hand and dragged me back into the school building.

When the doors closed behind us she let go of me. “So, you’re with Quil?” I asked her.

“Yeah…” She said and got a dreamy look on her face. “He’s just… I don’t know, he has been my best friend ever since I was born and then suddenly we just became more. I know he’s three years older than me, but – as Jake sad many years ago – age’s just a number, baby. Quil’s kind, funny, warm-“

“-Hot.” I interrupted her. The dreamy look on her face disappeared and she seemed to have come back to reality.

“Yeah, that’s defiantly a plus.” She laughed. “Do you have a boyfriend?”

“Nu-huh.” I said and shook my head. “Never a boyfriend, sure, I’ve dated a few guys but I’ve never met someone I really like.” I filled two glasses with water and gave them to Claire. “But, I’ve never met someone who has wanted to ever see me again after they’ve met my parents.” I joked.

Clair huffed. “They can’t be that bad.”

“Yes they are,” I said and started walking back to the others with one glass of water in each hand. “For example, if they knew I’m talkin’ to you I’d almost get grounded.”

“No way.”

“Yes way, they’re believers and I’m not allowed to talk to ‘black people’.” You could clearly hear the air quotes in my voice.

“S’okay if I take this glass?” Claire asked me as we sat down with the others – me between Seth and Nessie and Claire with Quil.

“Sure.” I said and took my other glass that Claire had carried for me. “Thanks.”

I had two classes after lunch, English and gym – blah! The only good thing ‘bout gym is when we go swimming, I have no idea why, but I’ve always – and I mean always – loved water. When it was raining, to swim in, to drink – I even liked winter just ‘cause snow and ice technically are water too.

I slammed my locker shout with my board in one hand and my bag over my shoulder. I hadn’t gotten any homework – yet – so my bag was almost empty. I heard Quil, Claire, Embry, Nessie, Brady, Collin and Seth come round the corner of the corridor and walking towards me. I turned around and met up with them halfway.

“Hey, guys.” I said.

“Hey, Sam.” Seth said.

“We were wondering if you’d like to come with us to Emily’s Café.” Nessie said. “Emily’s Clair’s aunt and she’s like the best cook ever.”

“Please, don’t talk ‘bout her like that.” Claire said and Nessie looked confused, was it a bad thing that she thought Emily was a great cook? “It’ll look like I’m good at cooking too.” Claire finished.

Quil rolled his eyes. “You’re always so dramatic.”

“Yeah, and that’s why ya’ll like me so much.” Claire said smugly.

Seth cleared his throat. “Guys, back to Sam, would you like to come?”

“Sorry, it’s my first day here and I already have something else I’m supposed to do today.” I said, and I was really sorry, I’d loved to hang out with them.

“’Kay,” Nessie said. “Some other time, then.”

“Sure, I’d love to.” I nodded and walked towards the exit.

Into the Sea, kap. 1

Så, jag har valt ett namn till min FanFic - Into the Sea (förkortning: ItS). Här är första kapitlet:

20th September, 6.30 am

Dear diary,

2day is my first day of school; I’m hoping 2 make a good first impression – dah. I’ve decided not 2 let anyone C how nervous I am, that would just make people think I’m a chicken – no offence chickens, it’s just an expression. We came here yesterday – me, my dad and my mom – and I’m supposed 2 start school 2day. I barely had time 2 go check the location of the school! And it would not be a good thing if I didn’t knew where the school was. That would just be embarrassing. Where is it we now live, then? We moved 2 the small town Forks in Washington, but Forks High School had no more places for juniors so I have 2 go 2 the La Push High School. La Push is a Native American reservation and it takes only 45 min 2 go from our house 2 the school, and 20 on my skateboard. My parents aren’t very happy ‘bout the fact that I’m going 2 go 2 school in La Push with ‘black kids’. My parents are all ‘no homosexual people, no black people, no bisexual people’ and it’s pretty annoying ‘cause I have no problem with it. For example they want me 2 talk 2 the other students or the teachers – unless they’re white – as little as possible. Don’t they want me 2 have any friends @ school, or what? Well, if I asked them, they’d say no.

“Samantha! You have to get out of bed now!” I heard my mom call from outside my room.

I sighed and laid my diary on my bedside table.  “Okay!” I called back.

I heard her walk away from my bedroom door as I stood up from my bed and walked over to my closet. Hmm, what to wear today? I found a blue pair of baggy jeans and a purple tank top that I threw on and as usual I had to wear accessories – a loose tie and my Vans cap. Before I walked out to the kitchen to eat breakfast I put my diary in my shoulder bag (the shoulder bag is my school bag) and my keys and mobile phone in my jeans pockets.

When I got out to the kitchen my mom and dad already sat there drinking their disgusting coffee, eating sandwiches and reading the newspaper. I dumped my bag on the floor by the sink and took a bowl from one of the cabinets and a spoon out of a drawer and sat down together with mom and dad.

“Good morning.” Dad said to me and looked up from his boring newspaper.

“Good morning, Samantha.” Mom said as she – too – looked up from her newspaper.

“Mornin’.” I said and poured milk in my bowl. Dad cleared his throat and looked and me. I sighed and said; “Good morning.” Dada nodded and went back to his newspaper. I put some cereal together with the milk in my bowl and started eating. Everything – apart of the sound of us eating – was totally silent. How could they eat like this?! I had never understood why they never talked when we ate and I had stopped trying to make them, it never worked.

After I had eaten I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and hair and put on some makeup. I never wore much makeup; it just looked cheap and scary when girls had overdone it. I put my brown, wavy hair in two loose ponytails – one on each side of my head – and then put on some black mascara and light pink lip gloss. I smiled at my reflection before I walked out from the bathroom and into the kitchen where I had left my bag. I had to go through the kitchen to get to the front door. I took up my bag from the floor as I passed it when I got out of the kitchen I couldn’t see my skateboard anywhere. I had left if leaning against the wall beside the front door yesterday.

“Where’s my board?” I asked as I turned around to look at my parents.

“It was in the way so I put it just outside the door, honey.” Mom said and did a gesture with her hand towards the door.

“What?! You can’t leave it outside for the night!” I exclaimed. “It would have got ruined if it had bean raining.”

Both mom and dad ignored what I’d said. “Now remember; do not talk to the black teachers or students if you don’t have to.” Dad said.

I rolled my eyes but said “sure, sure.” As I walked out the door and found my dear skateboard outside waiting for me. I took it and walked out on the driveway where I put it down on the ground, stood on it and started riding down the street.

When I got to the school I could feel everyone watch me. I took my skateboard under my arm and walked past everyone into the building with my head held high. I went to the office to get my papers and then I went to my locker. I had number 103, it was not long from the front doors so I didn’t needed to walk through the whole school to get to it. It was still 10 minutes left ‘till the classes would start so there stood groups of people talking in the corridors. One group with five incredible big boys and two very cute girls were all looking at me weirdly. Not ‘she’s the new, weird girl’-looks, they looked more like they all were trying to figure out something really hard. All five guys looked practically the same – beautiful bronze skin, dark hair and eyes, high cheekbones and very muscular. The girls didn’t look the same – heck! One of them was as pale as snow – but they were both very cute. The pale one had big, brown eyes and her hair went down to her lumbar and was wavy and had a unique mix of bronze and orange. The other girl had the same bronze skin, high cheekbones, dark eyes and dark hair as the guys, but hers was cut down by her shoulders. She and the guys are probably Quileute. All the guys looked like they were different ages – from my age and up – and both girls looked like they were freshmen. One of the oldest guys had his arm over the Quileute girl’s shoulders. I could feel their gases on my back as I turned around and unlocked my locker. I hang my bag on a hook that was in my locker and leaned my skateboard against the right wall in it. Then I took up my schedule to see what my first class was. I sighed heavily. Great, math as the first lesion on the Monday. I folded my schedule and put it in my back pocket – it could come in handily sometime. Since I didn’t had any books jet I just put a pencil and eraser in my pockets and grabbed my diary. Maybe it sounds lame to take your diary with you, but I always do that. I wonder if it’s safe to leave my skateboard in my locker or would someone steal it? I could still feel the group looking at me so I could as well ask them if it’s safe.

I turned towards them “Hey! Is it safe to leave my skateboard here?”

“I think so.” The one with his arm over the Quileute girl said.

“Okay, but if it’s gone when I get back here it’s on you.” I said as I slammed my locker shut. He grinned at me as I walked past them and towards my class. I smiled back. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad after all? I mean, I could talk to them in school; I just didn’t need to tell mom or dad.

As I walked down the hallways I felt everyone looking curiously at me. No one dared to say ‘hi’, but a few people smiled friendly at me.

When I got to the math classroom it was about half empty. The desks stood two and two and I got to sit beside a boy named Joseph. He was a total math geek and could everything. He seemed pretty nice, he introduced himself to me and helped me when I got stuck but other than that we didn’t talk much.

My second class was art and apparently that class never is in the classroom when it’s warm outside. Some girl told me that when I was just about to open the door to the classroom and she walked by. She told me to go out the front doors and to the left side of the school, where there were a big oak in the grass. Mrs. Oland always has her classes there.

“Can I sit here?”

“Holy shit!” I exclaimed and jumped a couple of inches. When I looked up I saw one of the big guys who had looked at me weirdly before.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” He said.

I shook my head. “No, s’okay, I was in my own little world.” I patted the spot in the grass beside me. “Sit down.”

He sat down and laid his stuff beside him in the grass. No one said anything. Awkward silence, next.

“So…” I said awkwardly but trailed off; I didn’t know what to say.

“I’m Seth.” He broke the silence and held out his hand.

“Sam.” I shook his hand. He looked questioning so I explained the name thing for him. “My real name is Hannah Samantha Piece but that sounds way to girly so instead of being called Samantha people call me Sam.”

“Aha.” Seth nodded slowly.

Then Mrs. Oland clapped her hands together and started the lesion. “Okay, today we’re starting on something new. You shall pick a patch from my hat” she pointed at a black hat that stood upside down on a stone under the oak with small, white paper notes in it. “On every patch I have written something, then paint it, sketch it, build a little sculpture of it, take photos, or whatever you can think of. Okay? And this is a big work. We’re going to work on it until Christmas break so take your time to plan what to do today.” Students agreed with ‘sure’-s, ‘okay’-s and ‘yep’-s and started getting up. When I got up Seth took my arm and dragged me down in the grass again.

“What?” I asked.

“It’s going to take awhile for the class to be done with that” he nodded towards where the class had crowded around Mrs. Oland’s hat. “We could as well wait here until they’re done.”

“But… I what if I’ll get something like… like… I dunno, something really boring.”

“You don’t get to choose what you get; even the first one can get something boring.”

I opened my mouth to protest, but shut it again. He was right; all the little papers were folded so you couldn’t see what was written on them.

If you got to choose, what would you choose?” Seth asked curiously.

“Hmm, something like…” I thought for a moment “Sadness or music, maybe? You?”

Seth thought for a moment. “I dunno, not too hard, I don’t have much time working at home, and art isn’t really my subject.” Seth stood up and held his hand out for me. “C’mon, let’s go see what we do get.”

“Okay.” I took his hand and let him drag me up from the grass. Now everyone were standing or sitting in groups together and talking about how to work with their topic. When we got to the hat I closed my eyes and took a piece of paper.

Quileute legends

I smiled. This was way better than sadness of music!

“What did you get?” Seth asked.

“Quileute legends!” I exclaimed happily.

Seth raised an eyebrow at me. “Seriously?”

“Aha.” I nodded my head eagerly. I had always bean fascinated by Native American legends, and was great to have it as a topic in art, my favorite class.

Quileute legends?” Seth asked me doubtfully. “I mean, some of them are cool but how do you think you’re going to make our legends into an art work?”

I shrugged. “Sketch illustrations out of your legends – like the thunderbird with a whale in it’s claws and that kind of stuff – and I can always make you and your friends dress up as charters out of the legends and take photos.” I smiled one of my most evil smiles at him and then said: “I can see it; you, on the beach, dressed up as a ‘cold one’… and the others on boats in the water, trying to escape you.” While gesturing with my hands in front off me.

“Not gonna happen, Sam.” Seth said and took a note himself.

“So… what did you get?” I asked.

He unfolded it and showed it to me. “Friendship.” He said. “How am I supposed to do that?”

“Can’t tell you, it’s your job to figure that out.” I said smugly.

Seth sighed heavily and went back to where we had been sitting before. I followed him and sat down opposite him. I opened my diary in my lap and took my pencil. Since this was something I liked and was interested in, I was going to write my plans and notes in my diary instead of on some boring striped papers like the rest of the class – inclusive Seth.

20th September, about 9.20 am

Dear diary,

Right now I’m sitting in art class – outside, in the grass! ‘till it gets cold, all art classes are going to B out here. Anyways, today every1 got a topic which you’re supposed to work with ‘till x-mas break and

“What’s that?”

I looked up at Seth who was looking at me curiously. “Um, my diary.”

“You do know that you’re not supposed to write in your diary right now, right?” Seth asked. “You’re supposed to plan how to make Quileute legends art.… And friendship” Seth’s last two words he said sarcastically.

“Ha! Good try, but I won’t do your work.” I said and laughed. “But, I’m writing it in my diary. Since this art work is something I’m really excited about I’m going to take notes and stuff in this.” I clapped the side of my diary that I was writing on.

Seth nodded and went back to his notebook, so I continued writing too.

guess what I got! Quileute legends! So cool! OK, now I have to start planning, here we go…

The rest of the lesion I and Seth spent planning our art works. We talked a lot and decided to help each other, for example Seth was going to help me to find interesting legends and I was going to help Seth with whatever he could need.

My third class was chemistry. It was so boring I’d probably fall asleep if I hadn’t had anything else to think about. I don’t know why, but I couldn’t get Seth and the rest of the kids in the group he was in of off my mind. Somewhere deep inside of me something said that they weren’t normal – that they weren’t human – but why would I think that? It was just some weird feeling I’d got when Seth took my arm to hold me back on the grass instead of go taking a paper note in art class. Totally weird. And I had already noticed that they kept to themselves, well, except from wen Seth talked to me in art class. Actually, it was as if the other students kept themselves from Seth and his group. Not as if they were afraid and didn’t wanted to get too close, it was more as if Seth and the others were some other sort of people – more powerful people – and the other students didn’t dared to talk to them, but they respected them. I wonder why, maybe my weird feeling had something to do with it. Should I avoid them just as everyone else did? Seth had been very nice to me.

“Miss. Piece, are you listening?” I was awoken out of my daydreaming by Mr. Smith’s irritating voice. My chemistry teacher looked firmly at me.

I sighed and shook my head. “No, I was thinking ‘bout other stuff.” What? I’d rather like people to tell the truth, I don’t like liars.

He narrowed his eyes at me. “Then I bet you’d love to share your ‘other stuff’ with the rest of the class.” By now everyone’s eyes was on me. I wasn’t that uncomfortable with everyone looking at me, just a little, and one thing I defiantly wasn’t afraid of was angry or irritated teachers.

“Actually, I’d rather not. I like having my mind private.” I hear several surprised gasps and some student’s mouth’s popped open as the bell rang and it was time for lunch. I took my new chemistry book and my diary in my hands and walked out of the classroom towards my locker.
